Inez Samantha Cofield makes no excuses for setbacks in life. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Inez was appointed the Information Officer January 2022. She hopes that her role will help NABLEO expand all over the world.
Inez attended Xavier University of Louisiana which she majored in Pre-medicine. Family and financial changed, she returned home after two years. Dreams of becoming a doctor, were a thing of the past. But, she knew that completing her college education was important. In 2009, she returned to college at SUNY Cayuga, graduating Cum Laude with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice-Corrections. Inez’s desire to work in law enforcement led her to join the NYPD Auxiliary police program. She served the NYPD from March 2013 to March 2021, performing 1,645 hours of service. In 2014, Inez joined the Guardians Association of the NYPD. She immediately became active member, volunteering. She began to help build up the organization’s social media presence, which was lacking for the organization.
Working her regular job, volunteering, and working on her bachelor’s degree was a heavy task, but she did it without complaining. 2014, Inez received her bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement Leadership from SUNY Canton, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Inez received her master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of New Haven in 2016. Inez was inducted into Alpha Phi Sigma National Honor Society for Criminal Justice. Inez became the first active Auxiliary Officer to become an Executive Board Member of the Guardians Association as she was the Corresponding Secretary from 2018-2020. She was the Chairperson for their 2019 Scholarship Gala. She continues to serve the community working on various NYPD projects, like Prom Impact, camping in the park, and Diapers for Daddy, just to name a few.
Inez currently works as a Decedent Caseworker/ Investigator for the Public Administrator-Queens County, where she is responsible for the handling of the estate of decedents. She is caring for her little brother “Keamy” who is special needs. 2021 he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Rectal Cancer but is quickly recovering after treatments and surgery. This was a challenge for her, as she became the super advocate and primary caregiver for him. She does find time to enjoy life and nature (she is part of a nature walking/hiking group) She has received numerous accolades and citations for her service. She has no plans on stopping, she’s just getting started. ??
