Felicia Richards - Financial Secretary
Felicia Richards was appointed to the New York City Police Department on July 15, 1986 and has worked in the various plainclothes units. Following the tragedy of 9-11, Felicia was assigned as a Youth Officer, Explorer Advisor, and Auxiliary Coordinator. She was promoted to Detective in June 2012 and is presently the Community Affairs Officer/Crime Prevention Officer of her command, which covers 37 housing developments in Brownsville, Crown Heights, and East New York sections of Brooklyn. Felicia is committed to enhancing the quality of the community and police relationships. She actively seeks out and provides opportunities for youth and their families through the educational and vocational advancement programs that she participates in.
Felicia has been a volunteer leader for the Girl Scouts of America – Greater New York Council since 1990. Through scouting, she has mentored young girls ranging from middle school to high school ages. Felicia has served as a Den Leader. She also severed as the Cubmaster, in which she maintained activities and training for the Cub Scouts and their parents, in addition to serving as the Post Advisor for the Law Enforcement Explorer. Felicia has been a member of the NYPD Guardians Association for over 30 years, holding various positions on the board during that time. In 2018, she was elected President and re-elected for a second consecutive term. Felicia is the fourth woman elected as its President since the organization’s inception in the early 1940s.
Her vision for membership is “Mentoring through Collaborative Works”. With an emphasis on committee work, she promotes members to initiate projects which leave a positive impact on the communities they reside in and serve. She also encourages the creation of collaborative projects between other civic and fraternal organizations. Felicia is an active member of the Eta Nu Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated, the Advisor for the sorority’s affiliate group, the Rhoers Club, as well as the mother of two beautiful children, Jahmique Anthony and Missan Rose.
