The National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers Board of Directors and Membership join the nation’s law enforcement community and their community partners in condemnation of the shooting of New York City Police Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenijian Liu. This cowardly and despicable act must, and should, be repudiated by all sensible and responsible persons.
Regardless of community perceptions and beliefs pertaining to issues concerning police abuse and excessive force, no amount of anger and frustration should be used as a cause or excuse to assault or assassinate law enforcement officers, irrespective of the beliefs of those who wish to create mayhem where others continue to find common grounds for peace and resolution.
We honor the service of these two officers, and send our deepest and heartfelt condolences to their families, friends and co-workers. We will treasure them for the sacrifice that they have made in service to the community.
The National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers, Inc, a 501.(c).(3) non-profit, is a premier national organization representing the interests and concerns of African American, Latino and other criminal justice practitioners of color serving in law enforcement, corrections, and investigative agencies throughout the United States, and the communities in which they serve.
