Dated: Monday January 15, 2024
Today, on January 15, 2024, the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers, Inc. (NABLEO) joins the nation in honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. One of the most powerful civil rights icons and leaders in our nation’s history, Dr. King made undeniably significant contributions to society. We are proud to take this opportunity to recognize and celebrate his achievements in the fight for equal justice for all people.
Dr. King’s tireless dedication to the Civil Rights Movement as its inspirational and courageous leader helped to end racial segregation in America. His legacy is one that represents love, hope, courage, kindness, service to others, and of course, justice and equality for all. Dr. King once said that, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”. His words are a testament to what became his life’s work, in his fight to ensure that we are all treated fairly, and his call for all people to do their part in creating a more fair and just society.
As we celebrate his legacy, we encourage all members of law enforcement and the communities we serve to join together in supporting one another and embrace the work we continue to do in our communities. Make this day one of service to our profession and communities, and do something positive to make a difference in the lives of others so that we can continue to build upon Dr. King’s legacy.
The National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers, Inc, a 501.(c).(3) non-profit, is a premier national organization representing the interests and concerns of African American, Latino and other criminal justice practitioners of color serving in law enforcement, corrections, and investigative agencies throughout the United States, and the communities in which they serve.
